M81 and M82

M81 is a galaxy that is 11.6 million lights years from Earth. It is commonly known as Bode's Galaxy

M82 is a galaxy that is 12 million light years from Earth. It is commonly know as the Cigar Galaxy.

Each were discovered by German astronomer Johann Elert Bode in 1774.

I created this photo from two separate nights of imaging in June 2022. It was made from 188 60-second exposures and 146 90-second exposures. The total exposure time was 6:47:00.
